B16 Blues
B16a SiR-II, OBD2 to OBD1 conversion......all sensors are hooked up and the only code that i have is 14 which is IACV.
when i start the engine it goes to about 1000 rpm cold and sits there for a minute then settles to about 350-500 rpm.
so i removed the IACV, cleaned it with carb cleaner (got it looking very good) then re installed it. same problem. (reset ECU first)
next when i slowly rev the engine, it gets to 1500-1600 est. rpm and starts whomping, like a big *** V8 with huge cams lobes....yeah whomp, whomp, whomp.......
i searched under things like erratic idle, rough idle, studder, hell i even used whomp. anyway, everyone is talking about the engine reving to 1500 rpm and then dropping to 500-700 then back up, i don't have that problem.......just "rev-1500-whomp, whomp, whomp-then as i continuly press the gas it gets passed it and continues to rev on up. **only code is 14**
has anyone ever had this problem. my thoughts.....
1. spark plugs
2. plug wires
3. faulty distributor (rotor, cap, the whole damn thing
etc.......)
4. IACV
thanks

mine was studdering at 3K every once in awhile and i just changed the Dist. Cap and Rotor and reset the ECU by pulling the fuse. It seems fine now. I haven't driven it alot but it has not happened yet. Try that and if you do need plugs and wires replace them to. As far as your idle... that seems just fine just keep the IAC valve clean. Also if you have a fast idle valve then check that also.
