B16 & B18 tranny case differences
I'm wondering if anyone knows offhand what the differences are between these two tranny casings. I know more than I cared to about b18 trannys, since I've had quite a struggle with mine for the last few months, but I don't have much first hand experience with b16 tranny internals. I fiddled with main and countershafts from an old cable tranny and it looked like the mainshaft was shorter and smaller in diameter as well as lacking the top sychro ring. What I'm wondering is does this mean a b16 tranny casing half is shorter? As in shallower?
there is no difference in b16 and b18 casings, there is a difference in cable/ hydro tranny's tough.
cable tranny's(besides 92-up)have smaller spline, shift forks are different, shift mech. and others that cant remember.
on hydro tranny's older r and gsr trannys use tampered roller bearings instead of ball bearings on the diff., but think thats all
Obviously besides gears
