B Series Transmission Tech
ok, i have a 92 teg LS, with a LSVTEC (hence the name) auto to manual swap..... i bought a LS tranny (cable) for $50 and put a quaife LSD in it!! and painted the casing cuz i was bored.... my question is i stumbled across a free GSR tranny (hydraulic) that is in great shape....but is not stolen..... my question is can i take the trannies to my tranny guy and have the GSR gearing put in the housing of the LS?? and still keep my quaife? is it possible to interchange the inner goodies and still keep the cable tranny? i like the feel of the cable tranny a lot more, and i dont know that the HASPORT kit will work because of the auto-2-manual swap.... please help me out here!! anyone who has done this before, i would love to hear what any of you guys think.... but would really know if swapping this stuff around really works

This is correct. If this is the case, you can use the Quaife IFF you also use the ring gear from a 92-93 GSR, VTEC b16 DelSol or b16 Si Civic, possibly the countershaft also (bear in mind this would also entail possible 1st and 2nd gear swaps. I have *heard* that the ring gear is all you need, but have not verified this).
The GSR and LS differentials are not the same, and the ring gear will not swap between the two. The LS ring gear you have is not the correct ratio -- you need the 4.40:1 final drive from the aforementioned vehicles to match the GSR final drive. I suppose you could also convert to the taller LS final drive, but that would defeat the purpose of swapping in the GSR gears in my opinion.
If you modify (slightly) the YS1 case, you can use the 94+ GSR diff/Quaife without issues.
I am personally running a YS1 cable gearbox with 94 GSR internals and an ITR LSD.
