Default B Series 1 Layer HeadGasket

For me to reach the CR I want to have I need to do a single layer headgasket. If any of you have done this to a B16, What layer can I use from the stock gasket, and should I spray it with copper sealant. I did a search and didn't come up with much...So thanks for any help..

If it's a money issue, you could be right. However, you could also shave the head and use cam gears to adjust for timing?

If you're going high with the CR, won't a single layer be difficult to keep sealed?

Just a thot!

I tried to use two. the outer layers only and it didn't seal worth a crap. I would not recommend this approach. A thin copper gasket might work fine, but not a flimsy steel one.

i have been using a two layer honda head gasket, for over a year with no issues what so ever! if you need a 1 layer gasket, i would recomend you stay from milling the head, since you can't go back on that. you could probably get a copper head gasket, the thickness you need to raise you cr. but you'll probably need to O ring the block to let the gasket seal properly! i would tell you to get a set of pistons to raise your cr, and keep the stock head gasket!

Apply a thin spray of liquid copper in between the two layers and you are set to go...!

I've been using mine for a long time in this fashion on/off HPDE events..and it's proven its worth....

shortcuts cause more troubles than anything else. a previous poster reccomended raising to target CR with pistons and a stock HG. I tend to agree.

Well I'm using SRP 10.5:1 pistons. They were the easiest and cheapest for me to get. I'm fine with 10.5 CR and a stock HG. I've just been reading about doing 1 and 2 layer gaskets. With the 1 layer the CR would be 11.11:1 according to the C-speed racing calc. Thanks for the input though I'll stay with the stock HG.
