how the heck do i remove the stop ring next to the tripot?

 

and what happened to the search function, only newer posts can be viewed. is the database wiped out or something?

 

screwdriver and pliers worked for me.

 

i know there is a tool for taking them off but i dont know what its called. its basically a like a set of pliers but when you sqeeze the handle it seperates instead of clamping....kinda like a piston ring installer.

I coundn't find one last week when took apart my axles so i had to settle for some small flathead screw drivers and scraped knuckles. Good luck
