Axle intermediate half shaft bolts???? Need help in installation.
Hello guys i have a problem installing one of the axle intermediate half shaft bolts. Is there any method to put them on? I was able to install the the two bottom bolts but the one in the top or above the axle won't go in. Is there a particular method in installing them? Am i suppose to install the one above the axle first and then the two bottom ones? Any help is appreciated. This axle intermediate half shaft is for a 5spd 05 tl its similar to a b-series just a little bigger. Right now i'am running the car with only 2 bolts. Will it cause any problem if i don't have the one above the axle? These bolts are torqued at 20ft-lbs.
Having only the two lower bolts installed is BAD!
There is no trick to installing the bolts as long as the half shaft assembly is correct for the engine/transmission. All three holes should line up with the holes in the engine block.
I'd recommend that you pull the half shaft and then verify that there isn't a problem with the threaded holes in the block. Screw in a bolt at all three locations and verify that the threads are clean.
Then re-install the half shaft assembly and using a mirror, verify that the holes line up. You could also try sticking a screw driver in the hole to see if it's lined up.
