Default axle help

How do I get the drivers side axle to come out? I have everything unhooked already. Also on my passengers side I have been trying to get the lca to come off the ball joint with the hammer method, no luck. Do i need to buy a ball joint sperater? This is on a 00 Si.

i hit the lower control arm really hard, never failed me. a ball joint separator will tear the boot, but yes it will work.

dont get a ball joint seperator. instead, wedge a bar(like the end of a ratchet) between the knuckle and lower control arm. You can increase the gap so the bar will fit by jacking up on the rotor. Once you have the bar stuck between, remove the jack, and jump on top of the rotor and that should break it free.
