very nice build!

and your garage is magic!

I have a question: where do you put the phantom-grip? I didn't see where it is on the pics.
thanx

There are two garages in the photos.

One is my friends garage that he and his gramma were nice enough to let me take over for this.

The other one is my Work http://socalspeedshop.com/ , and, for fabbing stuff, it's probably the best I'll get. I'm gonna miss it.

Most stuff happens in the home garage, very little (but very important) stuff happened at work.

And I put the phantom grip in the front diff. I was pushed for time that day so I slacked on the photos after I took it apart. Sorry bout that.

The one on the left is the front. One ring gear for the front, one for the rear.

The one on the right is the rear.

I've heard all about how they don't work. I don't care. I got it for a hundred dollars. I fit it as tight as I could (it's really really freaking tight on all four gears) so the other option of shimming it, basically got combied with it. So it's phantom gripped tight enough to be considered shimmed as well. It has the stiffer springs since I asked this guy: https://honda-tech.com/forums/hybrid-engine-swaps-18/awd-crx-del-sol-crv-driveline-swap-1708933/ about his phantom grip and he said it felt like a worn out lsd with the stiffer springs. Hopefully the tightness of it all will improve it some.

I'm well aware of how I should have gotten a real LSD for the front, but I'm broke as ****. I'm using food money to finish this damn thing, and even a phantom grip will be better than an open diff.

Now, none of this really matters as long as I'm running it RWD. But since it's so easy to put the axles in, it may matter if I take it to the dragstrip, run it RWD then run it AWD. It also may matter in the snow. Stop at the chain line, put in the front axles on instead, and continue on AWD.

Not sure how much dirt It'll see, but it's definitely not out of the question, and the front axles will be in then too.

I'm pretty sure with everything locked up in the rear, If I tried to run it AWD on the street something would break, likely something important, not something simple like an axle. That just seems to be the way that stuff works.

wow! socal! this shop is very knew in france, too.
this shop has to dream everybody but, we, we prefer honda 4WD! LOL
congratulations for your job

I have too a phantom grip in the gearbox.
for the same reasons that yours. LOL

I put the big springs too.

I think we must change the oil very often and it will be good. but it's a dirty/cheap solution.

I hope put a torsen after with knife-machining.

Yes, my girlfriend took some videos at Adams Kart Track on tuesday. Will have them up when time allows.

Update:

Spare Honda (My other civic, the one I use to get around while this one is down) tranny broke. I mean broken broke.

Toy honda now daily driver.

Finished exhaust yesterday. Not the final exhaust for the car, just one to shut it up and make it sound a little more dignified.

Put GSR springs on the front and stock ef hatch springs on the rear. Rides beautifully, handle like jello. There is also no rear sway bar since I haven't had time to re mount it. It has to be relocated because of the rear susp. work.

The car has a horrible hopping feel on take off and after shifts. Most likely the center bearing flexing. Really aggrivating.

Edit: Center bearing, axles and diff parts, all flexing. I have since broken them all.

The gas tank straps need to be re-redone, they are not doing their jobs well enough.

The body needs to be notched a little over the rear axles.

The new Hydro conversion is in and I am DYING to put it in. I am ready to throw my Innovative mount through the wall! I believe the Innovative conversion may also be making the centerbearing issue more noticable.

The power steering is now leaking like a sieve.

And the hole from the stock shifter is still in the floor. Need to cover that.

Lot's to do, no time to do it.

Man this car is a piece of crap. At least it's fun to drive!

It won't be till late feb. when I can update this for real, but for now, let's just say a civic (or Crv for that matter) was never meant to do these things. Unbelievably fun and frustrating at the same time. As long as the fun outweighs the frustration, I'm winning.

Life's been busy, and not many people check this, so it doesn't really matter anyway.

Transfer case broke. Replaced.

Rear axle broke. Replaced.

Center Diff (inside rear diff) broke. Replaced rear locked diff, with stock diff.

Drives like a normal car. Nothing breaks anymore.

FWD track times - 15.9 best at multiple visits. b16 and b20 both exact same times!

AWD (stock diff, all open) track times - 15.2

Next Hondata, so the engine and computer can get along.

I'll wait to say thanks, because I don't think you're talking about me. I would love an AWD EG hatch too. But mine's an EF, and I still love it.

Here's the AWD EG

Here's the AWD Del Sol

88ed8 is right, but if we can get something in the way of LSD for these things, I'm all for it.

Not sure if you're talking about front or rear, but I want both.

My guess is that we don't need one made, we just need to now which one works. I bet there is at least one that will match up for us to put our ring gears on. Just waiting for the import transmission guy nice enough to let me measure all the tranny diffs.

I did disassemble a bunch of trannys at a junk yard looking for something similar to the rear with no luck. But they didn't have any of what I thought might work. The rear is really small.
