autometer a-f guage wiring?
There's a couple different places you can tap into to get an A/F signal. If you have an OBD1 car you can just tap off the white line on the 02 sensor and the same also applies to an OBD2 car just make sure you tap off of the primary O2 sensor. The cleaner looking way and better way that like to do it, is to just tap in the line right by the ECU. If it's an OBD1 car tap in to the wire that comes out of the pin D14 and for an OBD2 car tap into the wire that comes from pin D7. Hope this helps!

Just to add to this question...
I have an Autometer A/F Gauge and it has 3 wires in the back (Black, Red, Purple). Either mine's not functioning properly or I don't have instructions (which I don't

You're much better off to run the wire through the firewall and tap it right at the sensor, as well as the ground. I have seen .05v to almost .1v difference on cars when it was tapped on the ecu vs. right at the sensor mainly from the grounding. As inaccurate as these are to begin with it sure doesn't help...
I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to get advice on the positive (red) wiring. Where's the best place to tap into? Would that be the black/yellow wire from the ignition switch?
Yea, you want it on an ACC circuit... If you're not running too many accessory lines for power the best place is probably right off the fuse box... If you are powering a few sources and want a clean way of wiring them up I normally run a 30A fused line directly off the battery, break the wire a relay which is switched by ACC, then run it to a distribution block... That's the way I do it, but I'm hella picky about wiring... Latez

Thanks Kata. Greatly appreciate the hand up. I'll try splicing into the cigarette lighter line or something closer to my dash cluster. I want to mount it on the A pillar, any quick suggestions you know of nearby there? It's interesting that most of the questions pertaining to the A/F gauge install is the O2 hook up. That's not my prob but the simple ACC hook up is. I'm definitely touched in the head.

That's a great recommendation.... if you have the time (I do something similar... fused w/ a breaker at the battery to a fuse block) That way, I have power for anything.
BUT, if you want something less involved for just ONE accessory, you can tap from the fuse box, just locate the fuse for your radio (switched on most cars) and go down to your local autoparts store and buy an 'Add a Fuse' for about $5.00 and just use a 15 or 20 amp fuse. No splicing necessary.
