Have any of you noticed that a lot of gas stations are having 91octane 88.5octane!
WTF!!!!!!!? A station attendant said "it's because of the cold weather and gas prices". What is California coming to? Is this just in my area(Daly City,San Francisco Area). Here are some of the cities and please put your city down on the poll if you are affected.
I think I might move to LA or Vegas.......too expensive up in the Bay.

 

All of CA is going to 91 oct. the reason for the 88.5 is because there is a proportion valve that mixes the high and low
to give the middle grade, hence the 88.5

From my knowledge, octane grades isn't the concentration of elements in the gasoline, but octane rating is actually the ability of the gasoline to help engines resist knocking. Therefore, it makes completely no sense for the gas station to mix the low grade and the high grade to make the medium grade.

I'm pretty sure that's the what they do. Ask someone who owns a gas station.
That's what i was told. And to say again about this. It's ALL od California that is doing this.
