ATS gearset questions.....
I purchased a complete ATS gearset recently from NA-cutie. At least, I think I did.
Basically, I have received four boxes - and they match what was posted in her FS thread.
However, their contents have me a little puzzled:
The 1st, 2nd, and final gear box contains only a pinion which contains the following # of teeth: 14 (helical), 13 (straight cut), 19 (helical); and a gear which has 40 helical teeth.
The 3rd gear box contains two gears which have 30 and 38 teeth, respectively.
The 4th gear box contains two gears which have 26 and 34 teeth, respectively.
The 5th gear box contains two gears which have 31 and 23 teeth, respectively.
Now I believe the gears from the 3rd and 5th gear boxes have gotten mixed up, and doing the math, it looks like the 30 teeth gear should go in the 5th gear box, and the 23 teeth gear should go in the 3rd gear box. No problem there (I hope).
But that 1/2/ 4.4 final box has me concerned. I was under the impression that I would be receiving the 4.4 final (ring gear and pinion), as well as the gears for 1st and 2nd gears.....

Now am I missing something here?
Or is this how ATS sends you the 1st/ 2nd/ 4.4 final pieces?
Here's my greatest dilemna:
I'm going to use this with a 4.9 final drive. And obviously, I'm going to need some other parts to do so...
Has anyone else purchased the ATS 1st/ 2nd/ 4.4 final kit? What is contained?
Thanks in advance!

Dear Ken
I hope I did not sell those set.
3rd and 4th are not re-inforced. 4th gear especially is not strong
enough for roadrace use. (we sold that 4th gear in a very short time
and replaced with a new re-inforced one). 3rd gear even though it not
re-inforeced probably all right. We only had very few problems with
that.
Anyway, the model R7A17-20 (which is discontinued 2 years ago) shold
contain one pinion shaft (main shaft) and one 1st gear on the
countershaft side which fits 4.4 pinion shaft and which produces 2.92
gear ratio for 1st. The number of the teeth of the 1st gear should
be 41 not 40.
Best regards,
Yasu / ATS USA
