Default ARP rod bolts

Is it really necessary to have the rod bolt ends re-sized? Who is running arp rod bolts without resizing them? To replace rod bolts all I need to do is take out my oil pan unbolt the old rod and bolts and then put in the arp rod and bolts right? What do I torque them down to? What else do I need to do to take replace the rod bolts?

uh no. if you're using stock rods, then yes, you must have the rods resized. it would also be wise to install new bearings as well.

please do a search on this topic.

bump, just want you guys to know I did searched and there are some people who actually didn't resize their rods and their motors are still running. I need more info before actually doing this.

I used arp rod bolts and did no tre-size the rods. I was going to but the machine shop that I used to go to said just buy the correct size and you won't need to do anything. He said that re-sizing the holes would create a weak point where he re-sized the holes. So just get the ones for an Ls rod and you should be alright.

So I just need to replace them? Everything can be done by myself right?

yes you can do it by yourself, but you have to check to see if they egg shaped; you might get lucky and not have to resize, but you might not.
