Default Apexi Neo Afc question

I have an 88 hatch with a mini-me d15-d16y8 head swap. I have an obd-0 Integra computer and Prelude injectors. I am thinking about use the Apexi neo AFC to street tune my car. Quick question though, maybe a dumb question, but I have always had factory vtec "ready" cars, Will the v-afc engage vtec through the unit, or does it just tap-in to a vtec signal that is already present. I have almost everything else figured out for the tune. I am going to use a Motorola pressure sensor also when I tune. I want to stay obd-0, so please, no "just convert to 0bd-1 and use a p28 and obd1 distributor and have it dyno tuned". This is the setup I have chosen, if it will work. I've had an obd2-obd1,Hondata, Sohc vtec y8 w/ 300whp. I want to try something new.

It taps into the ECU wires, and alters the signals going into the ECU

But how can it alter vtec signal if it doesnt receive one until 5200-5300 rpms? How can it change it to 4000?

when you set up the initial settings make sure you select vtec on and dont initialize after youve done this (initializing will erase it all) go to the settings menu scroll down to V/T CONTROL push up and the display should turn from gray to normal adjust lo-hi (vtec engages) and hi-lo (vtec disengage) keep these numbers close together as you dont want your vtec running all the time or in low rpm ranges you can also adjust to where if you mash the throttle vtec will kick in befor a certain rpm or if your reciving a certain amount of air flow or vice versa you can tune it to require a certain amount of air flow throtle and rpm

if you know how to set up the airmap graph let me know my brains to small to figure out the sequence. i have no idea how to use the airmap.
