Anyone knows the correct way to adjust a FPR?
I just installed my adjustable fuel pressure regulator but is having problem adjusting it. The dial just keeps on jumping up when I give it gas, then comes back down to a high psi then it originally was set. I set it to 41 psi, but after giving it some gas, it goes up to like 70 psi and comes back down to 55-60 psi. And after driving it stays like at 60 psi at idle (when I had adjusted it to 41). Also, sometimes when I'm tryin to adjust it, either direction I turn the adjusting nut, the pressure wants to stay at 70 psi. What can I do?
Make sure when you are taking pressure readings, that the vacuum line is
DISCONNECTED from the regulator. Otherwise if what you are saying
still continues, either the regulator is bad, or the gauge is bad.

I had a VDO gauge that would spin in circles like a pinwheel, so do have to watch them. What about the fitment around the adjuster - is that loose or can you double-check that it is locked at the adjusted position?
Which brand? Might try AEM or Vortech (some say they don't like this last one, but it works GREAT for me)...There is a diaphragm that either is deforming improperly or damaged or something because it is a simple mech device. You might be able to take it apart & fix it or else go to new one...

I don't want to get another one, this is brand new. This is the first time I installed it straight from the box. Although I didn't get to try what SGT had said yet (take the vacuum line out to read the pressure). Thanx SGT, I'll try it and HOPEFULLY it'll work.
yea, don't know if that will change what is going on with the diaphragm though. If you look at FPR, there is a vacuum line to it. Diconnect it and see what idle press. is.
Then, adjust to appropriate idle press. - like ~45 psi for b16a.
Then, reconnect vacuum. You should see it is like ~8 psi less.
Then, check how it responds to revving, and does it return to set baseline after removing the vacuum hose.
Play around with it like that and see if it is still "sticking" or drifting around. If it is you got no choice but to try to return it or pull it apart and fix it.
Don't forget that your press. gauge can be faulty also like I hinted at above, and so can go get it checked (like I have buddy at Honda service who likes performance).Even now I have a liquid mini-gauge on the FPR and then an Autometer in the cockpit and they are ~ 6-8 lbs. diff!!!!!!!

I tried to pull the vacuum line out and nothing. The engine just sounds like it idles higher, but my pressure is still stuck at 75 psi. If the gauge is bad, then why does it still come back down to zero when I shut the engine off. Though it jumps up to 75 psi when the engine starts. When I turn the adjusting screw counter-clockwise to relieve pressure, the furthest it drops is to 62 psi and shoots back up to 75 psi when I keep on turning the screw (relieving the pressure)--the same damn direction! It's an R1 by Hiper (Brand New)-what could be wrong with this damn regulator?
Any help is appreciated. Thanx.

Take it back if you got the receipt!
Your only choice is to either do that or take it apart if you feel comfortable with that.
That mug is damaged, and have never heard of that.
Only one last thing to bug you on is whether you have had the gauge (fuel) checked to make sure you are seeing "real" numbers. I know that sounds tacky (bad pun) but you gotta do it.
The other thing which is another way of checking, and what I did when I did not trust my press. gauge is to look at the plugs, and see if they were fouled - in other words what is your net delivery of fuel because if your injector function is the same in terms of it opening (pulse widths) then total delivery may be up OR DOWN!
Does the car throw out a lot of unburnt fuel? That is another check, if it is running rich. That is some Italian or ghetto tech, but just a couple of extra thoughts!!

Thanks for the time you took to answer my posts Red Civic T, I've really had it with this p.o.s. regulator. I'm probably gonna just stick my stock back on and hope the place I got it from would take it back (which I doubt). Also, I'm thinking if my code 91 (fuel pressure sensor circuit - low input) have anything to do with this? Wonder where the hell a fuel pressure sensor circuit is located?
damn, that could be it since that would cause a positive feedback as computer tries to compensate.....may have to address the hard core tech people for that
my boy away at honda mech school but will ask him early next week if that still a prob - email me then if it is or you remember to
