I need to replace the ball bearing on the tranny, the bearings at the end. Where did you guys get the tools (bearing puller) etc., to remove it

There are lots of bearings in the tranny. Most of them can be replaced without a puller. If they are the diff bearings you'll need a puller....

Dustin is correct, a "puller" isnt usually required when replacing mainshaft/countershaft bearings and a hammer and punch can be used to "popout" any bearings seated in the case...

I've done it with and without a puller, you can use a soft face mallet and hit the opposite side of the shaft. A mallet and a piece of wood can go far with Honda trannies. A hydraulic press is the most useful, however it can be done with out on.

yep...that was the bearing i thought you were reffering too!.. thats in there a little snug but you will be able to get 2 flathead screwdivers inbetween the bearing and 5th? gear assembly to wiggle it loose.. the important part is the "C" clip that has to be expanded that fits into the goove of that very bearing when you dismantle the upper portion of the tranny housing, its underneath that big *** nut you have to remove to split the case..

and on another note.. to figure out which is the problem bearing, just spin them with your forefinger.. normal bearings will spin smoothly while the problem bearing will have a "scratchy" feel to it.. of course it won't be the bearings on the top side but mostly the main and countershaft bearings underneath...

hehe i don't know how to explain this but the bearings are almost completely gone, there's like 2-3 ***** left and it spins quite freely. The drivers side axle seal on the tranny is leaking, replaced it and it was still leaking. I look in there and come to find out there's metal pieces like 4-5 hanging around but it didn't look like the ball bearing. The tranny is very smooth, I drove it around the block today and you can definitely hear some noise coming from there.

Just some info: this motor/tranny (SOHC) was bought last week to put in my hatch.
