Default anyone ever had this prob?

I'm installing a couple of gauges on my b16 EJ, and I've run into a small problem. I've got a b16a that has an unused water temp sensor on the back of the block, which I will be replacing with a water temp gauge...thus I can use the gauge and still keep my dash dummy light. It's an autometer gauge, and there were 3 fittings to screw into the block that the sending unit screwed in to. Problem is, none of them fit. I went to a local parts store(O'Reiley's) and explained my situation along with showing them the parts I was trying to use and the original temp sending unit, and the kid tried selling me the exact same wrong size fitting.

Anyone know the size of this fitting...I'm guessing it's metric since the fittings I was supplied with are apparently standard....I just don't wanna run to parts stores all over town if I don't have to....thanks in advance for the info.....
