any of you techs out there!
i just started working at acura.. and after 2 days of work my feet are killing me.. i wear timberlands and they suck on the job just wanted to know what kind of mechanics shoes you people use
when I used to be a bike mechanic, I worked on bare concrete floors all the time. After a couple of hours my lower back would be killing me. I ended up just grabbing another pair of insoles from my tennis shoes and stuffed them into my work shoes. Worked out pretty good.
I wear nike running shoes. I used to wear brama work boots, but my feet be killing me after 11 hours. The only bad thing about wearing regular shoes is when you have oil or anitfreeze all over your bay.
Globe skate shoes. That have a really nice arch support if your foot requires it. In fact, the first time I wore a pair I was a bit dissapointed because of the uncomfortable lump sticking into the inside of the sole of my feet. I decided to wear them around the shop for a bit (skate shop) and by the end of the day I couldn't feel the lump anymore and my back was holding up like a champ.
I wore cintas steel toe shoes very comfordable and worth the money. I will have to dig them back out of the closet cuz when school is done i am going back to the shop

While I was in school, I was a manager at a resturant. We made everybody wear shoes from this company.
They were incredibly comfortable for standing all day, and are so good at anti-slip, that the company got discounts on workers' comp insurance by having all the employees wear them.
There are no vents near the tip, so they are a great help if someone spills hot oil on your toes (doesn't burn at all in these!) and they are waterproof as well. Somehow, the ventilation is good enough that my feet didn't sweat much, either.
Finally, these are cheap as hell! $30. They also have steeltoes available.

Hey a fellow NY guy, i'll help you out...if you want to stick with workboots...get these...far more comfortable than crappy tims...i hate tims...they are soo thin and cheap feeling...anyway, these sketchers are also steel toe and much better inner and outer quality than tims and very padded inside both bottom and sides...real nice, i'm very happy with them (see pic below).
What Acura dealer in NY do you work for...I am on Long Island, just curious if it's a dealer i have been to for parts?

I like my $40 work boots I got from Sears, they are TechniFlex model from Caterpillar... Upper part built by Caterpillar, rubber by Goodyear! w00t. Been wearing them for over a year now and I'm quite suprised with them. I almost bought some $250 boots from Red Wing Shoes, but went for the cheap ones instead. They've held up well...
