Default Any way to make LS/VTEC reliable?

Is there any way to make it a daily driver? Or semi daily driver? What are it's weak points? I have a B16A right now but I want more torque and building up the B16A is a little out of my budget. Any help is appreciated. Sorry for the noobie question.

there aren't really any "weak" points per-say, its more in the human-error side of things.

only thing i would keep an eye on is the VTEC Oil Feed line from the b18 block, if for some reason oil stops comin' outta that....

Do I need to upgrade the rods and pistons? Someone said that the rods have a tendency to snap after some time... What ECU do I have to have with the LS/Vtec?

Not that I would recommend this, but I've bonced mine off the rev limiter (8500) a few times at 8 pounds and no probs (yet). So like everyone says, "build it right."

do the oil line right, keep an eye on oil pressure(ie. a guage), get a girdle in there, and some ARP rod and head bolts...you should be ok

if your concered about rods, get some Eagle rods or have yours shot peened

Once again....

LS/VTEC is reliable as daily driver as long as you do it right!

Yea, buy a GSR block, and put a LS crank in it.
What's the point of doing LS/VTEC then? Don't people do LS/VTEC because LS block is a lot cheaper than a GSR block?

You're right Jay, but we're not talking about "CHEAP" we're talking about "DONE RIGHT"
