anyone know how/if this setup would work? i have a LS integra and i will have a crx in a few days, can get a B17 for cheap and was thinking i could put the B17head on the LS for ls/vtec and then put the B18B head onto the B17 block so i could have something to put into the crx to drive with....what kind of performance would i expect from a non vtec B17? would it even work? i tried searching but couldnt find any info, thanks

You might get it to work, but its not worth it IMO. I would just get a vtec head for the b18b and leave the b17 just like it is.

 

Keep the B17 the way it is and get a B16 head for the LS. Don't put two crappy parts together.

Crap + Crap = Monster piece of crap

I always thought about putting a B16 block together with an B18B head since nobody wanted them and nos the crap out of it. Then realized it would probably be a waste of time.

 

That's the samething as putting a LS head onto a B16 block (B17 block is the same size, just different stroke - rods & crank), and it's been done for ***** & giggles, but nothing as a serious swap. Just think of it as an expensive ZC motor .
