Problem:

Car is a 2000 dx hatchback with a poor man's r installed.
Purchased replacement alternator from local honda dealership. Replacement alternator is externally identical, with the exception of the harness plug. The old harness plug is square, the new harness plug is oval. Any idea on what alternator I should be using?

i think it might be a 99-00 si alternator from you old one. out of what car was the alternator was purchase for?

I am pretty sure the old alternator is an Si alternator.

The new alternator was a 2000 Si(r) alternator. Went back there today, and the parts manager suggested that there might be two different Si(r) alternators, that the plugs may have been changed between 99 and 00 model years.

I'll post an update on monday when I hear back from the guys at the dealership.

Dealership called today. The new alternator really sounds like a d-series alternator. Different ground location, threaded adjuster bolt hole, not a denso alternator.

I'll try to put it in tonght, but it sounds a lot like an earlier alternator that I was given...
