Default Alternator / Driveshaft / Intermediate Shaft Help?

Car: 2000 civic w/ b18c swap.

Problem: how to get the alternator out of the car?

Okay, so the alternator is loose, alternator bracket is removed, driver's driveshaft is separate from the hub, still attched to intermediate shaft.

1. Do I need to pull the driveaxle completely to get the alternator out of the car? It doesn't seem to fit between the fat part of the axle and the crossmemer, but am I just being retarded? Do I just need to jimmy, wiggle and cuss that bad boy out of there?

2. If the axle has to go, how do you separate it from the intermediate shaft? I've been in there with a pry bar, a hammer, and my big meaty paws, but I just can't get them apart. Is it going to be easier to just yank the whole axle / intermediate shaft assembly right out of the tranny?

Help please!

Edit: searching for 'intermediate shaft' worked a lot better than searching for 'axle' or 'driveshaft'. on me.
