Default are all 92-95 civic VSS interchangable. Speedoo problem

I have 92 civic whos speedoo works than doesn't work. At the same time my odometer dies and comes back on with the speedoo. I'm thinking it's probably the VSS that is bad.

Now will any 92-95 speed sensor work? Does it matter if it's off auto or manual tranny. I found one thats off a 5spd and mine is 5spd but I'm just wondering if they are all the same.

Thanks

clean the connector first, this will solve 99% of all VSS issues on 92-95 Civics.

What kind of solvent should one use? Or which solvents should one stay away from?

I have the same problem, and the problem remains even after my swap. I think I'm in the 1% of people with wiring/grounding problems which affect the cluster.

So if I upgraded to a heavier gauge grounding setup it should correct my jumping Speed sensor?

one that is safe with plastics would be a good start.

Simple electrical contact cleaner does the job.
