Default Aftermarket cams for my LS

How much horspower can I gain from adding a more aggressive cam. I know there are different kinds out there, but if you guys have specific examples it would help. I want to get something streetable of course. What are your thoughts?

The horsepower gained would depend on a number of things.....but most importantly, price.

Basic camshafts without valve springs and retainers aren't too expensive. However, the gains won't be as high. Unfortunately, most of the time, valve springs and retainers cost the same, if not more than the camshafts themselves. Once you do get these, you can get a much more aggressive cam, which will yield a lot more power.

you can gain a few hp from a mild cam. The thing is you take some hp away from the mid to add it to the top. This happens to a more extreme degree the bigger the cam you put in, also the more revs you need to get to the sweet spot of those cams. Streetablity rapidly decreases the bigger the cam you put in. The bigger the cam you but in the lower the dynamic compression because of blowdown. I got some good power w/cam gears and stock springs in my LS the the Crane cams.
