advanced cam gear, no top end?
I have an enquiry to make..
My local reputable mechanic/honda specialist modified my existing cam gear. He modified the OEM cam gear to run 4-6 degrees advance and retarded my ignition to compensate.
This is guy my mechanic, is reputable. He apparently use to be in honda's F1 team so i dont doubt what he can do.
However, after advancing 5 degrees, i feel as if i lost abit of top end.. nevertheless i have now a mid range punch..
Would this sound right? i currently have I\H\E mods only

retarding your cam will brings the powerband higher in the RPM range and advancing it brings the powerband to lower RPM. So, yes this does sound right. Try retarding it. You will lose some low end but, gain some top end
he modified the key in the cam gear.. not sure how he did it though.. so i dont think i can retard it again..
Ok say it was advanced ..
Whats the usual dyno tuned degrees for a b16a's with IHE.. ive got 5degrees seems like i got no power about 7k rpm.
Thanks for your help!

Even if you lost top end, your car is faster than before. People who shoot for nothing but peak hp end up with a very peaky car that is crap to drive on the street.
