Default AC PAG Oil System Quantity

Hi Guys. I just got done with replacing the following in my 97 Crv.

- Denso AC compressor
- New evaportor
- New expansion valve
- New reciever/dryer

The AC compressor is was prefilled with 4.4oz of SP-10 oil. Im trying to figure out if this is the total system quantity or must I add more? 4Seasons has a doc which states the total AC system oil is 4.5oz and r134a is 25oz but thought it would be best to get a second (or many) opinions.

Should I leave it at 4.4oz or add more per the FSM?

Youre supposed to drain the old compressor and subtract that amount from the new. You're also supposed to evacuate the refrigerant with an RRR machine, which will separate any oil pulled out, into a graduated measuring cylinder. This is the amount you should put back in.

If youre DIYing it, just send it.

Use the new compressor with whatever oil came in it.

Hi thanks for your reply. All major components were replaced. All minor components were cleaned. So I'm really starting from scratch. I was confused as to what the total oil quantity was in a brand new "scenario". But I think I figured it out. All of the searching pointed to 4.4oz of PAG/SP oil total capacity. I've since installed, vacuumed for 1.5hrs and have recharged with 24oz of R134a. So far no issues. Pressures look great, idle sits around 45-50psi on low port. When the compressor switches on the low port gets to around 15-20psi and the high side around 150-220psi - ambient temps are just around 73F. But so far so good.
