or one with less bigger ones more twards the outside like this one:

i would think its the one with more but im not shure why..

can somone explane..

thanks larry.

[edit] i know im really talking about pressure plate so dont ask why i titled it about your clutch..

Grabs harder, handles more HP. If you don't have a high performance motor, the disc clutch is fine.

Im gonna guess the top one is kevlar and the bottom is a 6puck cerametallic?

The kevlar should last forever and have smoother engagement, the 6puck should grip like no tomorrow but be harsh for daily driving plus it doesnt appear to be spring loaded.

someone correct me if im wrong.

the yellow pressure plate will squeeze harder than the other.

ok and when you say it will
the yellow pressure plate will squeeze harder than the other.
how do you figure that when there are far more teeth at a closer center of gravity on the balck pressure plate???? how could it possably sweeze harder??

more isn't always better. the longer fingers on the diaphragm spring on the yellow version give the pressure plate more leverage to squeeze the clutch more firmly to the flywheel. edit: this is isn't the only variable to the spring...

this is also why the clutch pedal can get heavier when installing high performance clutches/pressure plates.

you ever look at the bottom of that first pressure plate? has more leverage than the wellow one you ovb dont have a clue what your talking about

edit: when i say leverage i meen the teeth extend out (twards the outer edge of the pressure plate) just as much if not further than the teeth on the yellow pressure plate

so yeah es6s52 im sayin your full of ****

full of ****, perhaps, but the fact remains that the yellow pressure plate will apply more clamping force to the clutch disc than the other. the entire geometry of the spring affects this: where it pivots, what materials it's made of, the dimensions and layout of the spring.

the length of the fingers on the underside of the plate is not the only variable to determining the clamping force of the plate.

the practical answer to your first question is that the yellow plate will clamp harder. that's the advantage. if you don't like my explanation for why that is so, so be it, but it appears you're taking too simple a view of the working of the plate.

you present such a clear and compelling argument that i have no rebuttal...

if you already knew the answer, then why ask? please tell me how it works and how those parts are different so that i may further my own understanding.

seems like that includes you, too. not very cool that you tell me i'm full of chit, but offer no counter to my explanation.

"you're totally wrong" isn't very constructive, nor does it help anyone who would like to learn.

sorry to drag out this useless thread...
