Default 99 cx ckyp sensor??? which wire is which?? Please Help Me.

I recently swapped the car discussed. Anyhow, i have done all the wiring modifications besides the ckyp sensor behind the crank. The motor i have is a jdm 97 itr and doesnt seem to have the obd2 vacum sensor on the manifold, or the crank sensor behind the lower timing gear. Is it possible for me to wire it to the distributor. I have the 97 r distributor wired, theres just a solid black, light blue with yellow and light blue with green striped wire left over. Which wire gets the white/red wire and which gets the blue/red wire from the civic ckyp on the crank?

Again, i have rewired the 99 cx. I am using the 99 cx harness with a 97 jdm itr motor AND ECU (i took all the pin locations and made my own jumper harness from obd2+ to obd2), all cut and completed. Just i am left with the distributor dilemma, I need to know where the white/red and blue/red wires( typically get wired to the sensor setting aside the brown/black wire) go since there is no sensor on the crank.

Thanks for any imput at all.

i believe your talking about the ckf(crank fluctuation) sensor thats behind the crank pulley. That does not connect to the distributor wires in any way.before i can helpyou,i need to know which engine code did the harness you have come from. There should have been a plug on the 99 harness for that sensor. If the itr motor doesnt have a sensor behind the pulley, then the white/red and blue/red wires are not needed.Didnt the itr distributor plug up to the harness??

The car was a 99 cx hatchback., I am pretty sure the motor is a d16y7. The motor being used is a 97 jdm b18c type r changeover. The cx harness and the itr idstributor do not match up. The distributor worked perfectly on my 98 ex, but the 99 cx it doesnt plug into. I find it odd that the 97 r motor does not have the ckp sensor on the crank like the usdm 96+ b18c's. I am used to taking that sensor, cutting the orange wire and using the white and blue wires to the 2 wire gsr crank sensor. Now i have this motor with no sensor at all, so do i just set those wires aside?

I have cut the cx distributor plug off the cx distributor. And cut the 97 jdm r plug off its distributor. Then i matched all the wires to each other. I am now left with 3 wires which have no mates. The itr distributor has a solid black wire, and the cx harness does not. The itr has a light blue with a yellow stripe and a light blue with a light green stripe and the cx harness does not.

Besides this the whole car is complete.

Thanks in advance for anyones help who is willing to assist.

If you wanna send the pics to me too, I'll take a look... At lot of things bother me about what you say... First of all if this is a '97 B18C you should have a CKFS on the oil pump, besides that your distributor should have been the same too... For the distributor connection to the engine loom did you have one or two connectors??? I'm just wondering if you really got an OBD1 motor... Still an OBD1 motor runs the TDC, CKP, and CYP in the distributor so all together you should have 7 wires... Are you absoluetly positive this is a '97?? Like does it have the (9|7) stamp on the head??? You also say it was missing the "vacuum sensor on the IN manifold", here I assume you're talkin about the OBD2 EVAP purge solenoid... Again it just doesn't make sense to me about the missing sensors and connectors that don't plug together... The stock CX/DX D16Y7's are the exact same and run the exact same engine loom, they should have been plug and play with an OBD2 motor with the few slight modifications that you have to do to the harness... VTS, VTM, KS, and rewiring the 3 pin rotary style IAC to the linear 2 pin... Let me know and I'll see what I can do... Good Luck

Okay after seeing the pics, I'm just really confused... I know what the problem is but I don't understand it... Since the D16Y7's are found both in the CX/DX I don't know why the distributor connector would be pinned different and that's just what it is... I could have sworn that on my friend TC's (Rukkus233) old '99 EJ6 (DX) that he didn't have the same distributor connector as that CX but I could be wrong... It's either that it's an OBD2b connector which I doubt or the CX runs a different distributor/connector... The way I see it two things can be done now... Run out 2 new wires from the ECU (CKP) cut off the existing CX female distributor plug off the engine loom and put on a '96-98 DX or EX (I know those will fit)... After that you'll have to solder the JDM dizzy plug back on the distributor... That will have you done there and the rest will be plug and play... You'll also have to get an '96+ OBD2 oil pump, CKFS, and gear or run a jumper with an OBD1 ECU (chipped P28 would be cool)... They would both be about the same price so it's sorta up to you... If you don't have too much emissions **** to worry about I would just go with the OBD1 ECU... Works if you build the motor later on and wanna run Hondata... Well just my $0.02 again, and let me know if you think of anything else... Peace
