Got this 98 auto teg. Bought it not running. Needed a coil and

So we had a manual obd1 ecu that we put in with a jumper and the car runs fine. We drive it with that computer and its stuck in 2nd and clunks going inot reverse. As to be expected with a manual computer. Throws no codes

Then we get a obd2a p75-a52 (96 auto ecu) and the car is still stuck in 2nd and clunks into reverse. But still throws no codes. Witch is weird becuse it has the right ecu. You would figure if there was a trans failure it would throw a cel for something.

So my questions are

Becuase we are using a a52 and not the original a54, would it cause these transmission symptoms?

And why i am not getting any cel?

Cel does work.

 

Its acts exactly the same for a manual obd1 ecu as it does for a auto obd2a ecu

 

Heres the only physical difference between the 2 computers

Original 1998 auto, the last of the 3 boards is a full board


1996 auto ecu, the last of the 3 boards is just a half board


Both mother boards are the same part numbers

 

So i guess ima replace the trans

 

Replacing the trans today. I hope its not the ecu
