Default 97 Civic coupe - Tips needed please.

Okay, I'm new to the street racing world, I don't really have any friends who race, their all into big rims and loud systems. I don't have the money for engine mods as I work and goto college still. I am buying a 97 Civic EX, it will be my first stick I learned how to drive a stick the other day when my friend finally bought a 96 civic himself. Okay I know, I tried driving a stick when I was 16 but the car was a probe and I got frustrated and decided the automatic was fine for me.

Now that I have bored you all, could you all help me out? Here are my plans, please give me all the pro/cons, I'm willing to learn from the wise.

I'm getting a 97 Civic coupe EX, I already have rims for it, here they are -- http://www.polowheel.com/polo3l.jpg - T726 -- okay before you start flaming me for the chrome rims I ALREADY had them and I don't have the money for different ones. So please just say if they are okay or not as far as chrome goes.

I am going to get a exhaust put on for sure, need tips on a cheap affordable exhaust with a deep sound, don't want a LOUD *** SCREAMIN ricer like most cars around here. And most of them are like neons and zx2's heh...

The rims are 17's and I will be getting the car lowered an inch and half. I'll only have money for the exhaust when I get, but I need info on other mods.

Like I said, I don't have alot of money so every "little" thing counts.

Btw, my friend has a set of neon green lights, if I got a black civic I was thinking of putting them on, yay or na?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the tips...

Waiting to be molded into the man I need to be...

If you really want to get in to street racing on a budget you need to do thing
differently. Sell the chrome ones and stick with the stock ones. Then get an AEM
CAI, DC headers, high flow cat and the cat back of your choice.

Then again this is just my opinion.

whoh, hold up right there. did you just say ricer and neon and zx2 in the same sentence?!??!??! Those are domestic cars, need I say more. Cheap wannabe ricers, they don't even deserve the privalge of being called a sport compact. Anyways to your questions. First off, rimz. Sell the chromes because I am sure they would look horrible and they are probably 5 lug also. You could sell those and easily buy some nice wheels from Axis or Konig and get some performance tires. As for exhaust, get yourself some cat back exhaust that you can just bolt on yourself, very very very very easy. Tanabe, borla, greddy, matrix, or even mugen. As for other mods If you email me wylyjedi@aol.com I can give ya info on some cheap or free stuff you can do for looks or a little bit of performance. As for the neons go for it, I have 2 sets of neons on my car and getting a 3rd set for the wheel wells here soon. Green or blue on a black civic would look good.
