96 prelude overheating issues
I bought my 96 prelude si with the factory H23 last year , it had just a little over 160k on it. I baby the car day to day and maintain it to a tee....I was going to make a 5 hour trip to houston in may so I decided to go have the coolant flushed and refilled...on my way to houston ,about 2hours into my trip the car began to overheat so I shut it off and let it cool down.I eventually replaced the thermostat and bled the coolant on the side of the road and made it home.Since then I have had no overheating problems but I noticed that every so often I will start the car and it will chug and sputter for 10-15 seconds and then clear up and run smooth. One other thing that Ive noticed since all of this began is that the fan kicks on after the car has been shut off ,not just after its shut off but sometimes 2-3 minutes afterwards.I decided to remove the spark plugs just after I started it and it started the sputtering idle and I found that cylinder #1 had a wet and yellowish/brown colored spark plug and the other 3 cylinders were clean and normal ...I have not done a compression test yet but I was wanting honda-techs feedback ,maybe some ideas of what it could be...(leaking headgasket on cyl.#1 , stuck open fuel injector, ).Sorry for the long story
Edit: Things that have been done to the car since I bought it sept.07
