'96 Integra lacking performance
Hey guys,
This is my first time to post here. You guys have great conversations going on here. I like the way your site is organized----I hope you can help me out.
My wife's '96 Integra has 103k miles on it. She's the original owner and has taken great care of it. At 90k miles we changed the timing belt and put new spark plugs, plug wires, etc. I wasn't able to change the points b/c I couldn't get that one damn screw off the points to get them out. This might be part of my problem...
Here's my question: The car is still in good shape, but is running a little more rough than normal. For example, when driving and pressing the accelerator, the rpms run up pretty high and then it shifts really hard into the next gear (It's an automatic). Same thing in every gear... pressing the accelerator and the rpms seem to really wind up high and then the transmission shifts. Not as smooth as it once was known to be. And it seems to shift later than a year or more ago.
Any thoughts or suggestions? My thoughts are transmission adjustments, that points thing (Actually, I don't think it is called the points, but whatever that little black thing is inside the distributor cap?)
