Did a smog check yesterday just to see if would pass, since my registration is up, well i was very surprised that it nearly passed, the guy looked at my swap and just started to work on it not even looking at my engine stamp, well i had the head rebuilt about 2 months ago new iacv new fitv, new o2, original cat, 87 octane, 3500 miles since last oil change any techs out there with any advice, i know its running lean should i retard the timing to 14 degrees bdtc, and put in a step down colder spark plug, i have a new thermostat laying around i might as well change that out too, would that do the trick? my results below:
Running 91 can help a little, and if you had an EGR clean that to. word from my local smogist.
its a 95 db8 so no egr, i heard about the 91 octane also, anyone know if i would pass timing if i set it to 14 degrees btdc, since we have 16 degrees +- 2 degrees?

Yeah you can retard to 14. Whats the CR on that engine? What ECU? You may benefit from a higher octane. High Nox on Integras is usually the result of a bad O2. Since yours is new, I would suspect the cat. You can also try seafoam to ensure there are no hot spots in the CC. (This would apply if the engine is high milage)
* Technically a B20 is not a legal swap. Be careful.
actually you are running perfect. Your a/f ratio using the lambda calculator is 14.7. That is perfect. Your cat is done. That is why you still have oxygen left over and have more hc and co than you should. The cat uses the oxygen to create co2 with the co. But on this sheet it shows that the cat cant store the oxygen.
Bottom line, you need a cat. Your car is running perfect, not lean or rich. perfect
Honda only uses two methods of reducing nox on 5speeds, valve overlap and cat. Your abnormal high nox is another output of a bad cat.

b20b lower compression, ls ecu, the head was redone 3 months ago, i'm going to retard to 14 and cross my fingers and use higher octane, I'll post results next week.
If you retard the timing and use higher octane you are going to have higher hc and co. Retarding timing richens the mixture and using higher octane causes a longer burn.

wow, thanks for the re assurance i rebuilt this motor about 4 months ago, If i can get away with temporarily, retarding to 14 btdc and pass for now I'm going to try that first.

yeah that cross my mind too, but i haven't changed the oil since i put the engine in, and the smog guy said my hc are almost at the max possibly because of broken down oil.
the reality is the cat is bad. The cat is responsible for lowering nox. Yours is doing nothing. I just gave you free diag over the internet. Dont waste your time paying for another smog check and failing when you now know the problem.
I have a smog license and work out of a dealership.

found a direct fit cat for $218 obd II, we'll see what happens thanks brother.
94 integra jdm b20b swap ls stock components new cat new 02 new map new plugs new dizzy new clamps all around timing at 15 all stock failing due to high nox. Info appreciated.
original read spec.

It should be 16' BTDC and you have to check it while the timing is frozen static... you do this by shorting the service connector while the engine is idling.

CO2 looks fantastic.
Your cat isnt working.
Need a new cat. You need one that matches the engine displacement.

I didn't do this as i didn't put the engine in my guy that put the swap in triple checked it. He set it at 15 because it was running high nox setting back the timing was one of the recommendations while staying in spec.
