93 prelude gears grind
93 prelude with 110.XXX, My 5th gear used to grind when i would switch it from 4th to 5th at high RPM's but now my 2nd gear started to grind all the sudden at high RPM's. I will be replacing my clutch soon is there anything i can do to kill 2 rabits at the same time, fix the grinding and change the clutch. By the way my clutch is fine right now im just going to a stage 2 clutch
Does it pop out of gear on its own? Push the clutch in with the motor running and put it in first gear, then let the clutch out slowly with your hand off the shifter, and see if it takes a noticeable "jump" forward, that means bearing failure.
I don't know how you shift your car, but if you shift like a maniac, your synchro rings could be wearing out. That is kinda odd though to see 2 gears go out like that in a short time frame, so I will stick with bearing failure.
If you take the transmission out wiggle the mainshaft, if its loose, your gonna need an ISB and seals at least, I would also inspect all the other bearings in there was well, since metal and bearings don't mix. For longevity I now replace all bears after a failure. Had one transmission come back to bite me in the *** because the countershaft bearings had metal pressed into the races, and eventually they broke and 1st and 2nd were gone.

fluid was changed maybe 3,000 miles, when ill be changing the clutch is there anything i can do to take a look in it, i never took a tranny apart and what is a syncro
A synchro is a braking ring used to match the speeds of a gear and the shaft on which it lays, to provide a seamless shift without the need to double-clutch. If the piece wears out, or it can no longer provide good contact with the gear, the collar will grind on the gear because the ring has not matched the speed of the hub to the gear.
Wiggle the mainshaft when you take it out, if there is any play in it, ISB failed and will need to be replaced, very simple fix, and costs about 40 bucks for the bearing and seals from the dealer, it would be wise to inspect the other bearings as well, and clean the case with brake cleaner to get all the metal out.

oh ok, i get it, i will be changing it in like 3 weeks i hope, but the second gear is fine sometimes its berly grinds probably i was sitting to far or clutch wasnt all the way in, but 5th gear for sure grinds all the time on high rpms, i have to match up the rpms if i dont want it to grind
Back to back grinds in different gears is kinda odd like i said, given the mileage the synchros might be worn out, but a bearing problem could cause that as well, hard to say.
