91 civic dx distributor alignment
so i just bought a 91 dx for a guy and the car doesn't run. it sounds like it wants to but it doesn't fire. The guy that i bought it from side that they car just one day stop running when he was driving it and then it would run for a couple of min's or so then die again. he said he replace the plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor but it didn't help anything. i found that fuel filter was almost completely clogged and i replaced that. the car sounds like it wants to start but it doesn't. I really don't think the guy knows S**T from shine-ola when it comes to cars. I'm thinking that he put the distributor rotor in rotated to the wrong spot. . . . that assuming that thats even passable, its been a couple of years sense I've worked on a distributor.
So what i'm asking is, is there an easy way to align the distributor rotor to make sure that its firing the pistons in the right order?
Thanks for the help
John
