91 accord engine/electrical problem?
i have a 91 accord that has a intermittant problem/problems.this has not happened to me while driving but to the wife.while driving at normal speed/ 60mph she has said the check engine light comes on, the sport light begins to blink and the car begins to skip.this has happened twice in the last year.i, as well as she has had this to happen to us on numerous occasions, upun starting the car after it has sit all day/days or overnight/nights,the check engine light will come on,the sport light will blink, the car will shudder and generally be running rough and upon starting it will smoke, whick smells like a catalitic converter smell, smoke is bluish.we can cut car off for awhile and everything will be just fine, like no problem ever existed.also while driving car will jump in rpm 2 to 3 hundred at most speeds.took car to dealership and they said it was one of my fuel injectors clogged and another partially clogged.problem still exist.i just cant afford to keep taking it to the shop.in looking over other post on this site it sounds like it could be 1 or more problems.ie:vehicle speed switch, ecu, trans. ecm this vehicle has an auto. trans and 4 cyl.motor.im not a auto tech but i believe i could find my way around/fix the problem if it wasn't too tech. or hard. any help will be greatly appreciated.more info can be provided if needed.thanks
hi there, I would consider changing the transmission fluid as a preliminary step, possible one of the soldnoids is sticking. Usually when the 'S" light flashes on ur dash it indicates a Vehicle Speed Sensor problem. I've work at a few dealerships and seen car come in with this problem. The fix was usually replacing the VSS. Try getting some powerful concentrated fuel injector cleaner from a departement store and adding it into the as tank. Consult a service manual, it will tell u how to read the diagnostic trouble codes when ur S light is flashing. Let me know how it goes and what the fix was, I'm very interested in learning more and learning from ones experience. I would definatlely appreciate your feedback. Thanks and Have a Great day! sanj032@hotmail.com
