8900 on stock internals!
Well the other night I was headed out to meet up with a few friends of mine. Along the way another friend pulls up next to me in his 240/sr20 and starts ******* around. I never race b/c I am not a straight line kind of guy and believe that honda's were made for track use to see full potential, but needless to say, we had a little fun(well atleast he did).
In the end his car was faster in all areas, but I guess with only 184whp and stock internals with no traction might be a reason...lol Sorry to get off track, but the main question I was wondering was:
I accidently took my car to 8900 revs while messing around(chipped p28/redline 9000) and was scared my car was gonna break, but nothing happened and no valves were bent in the process(thank god!) Has anyone done this with stock internals? Just wondering if I was just really lucky?
Thanks

your running the jdm type r right?
my friend has the jdm type r in his hatch with stock internals, and he takes it to 8900 rpm all the time,he has a jun chipped ecu,and he never hurt anything in the engine.

whoops sorry I didnt clarify this: Im talking about the other B18c lol(JDM GSR)
**** I wouldnt mind going to 8900 b/c thats only a few thousand away from stock redline on an R, BUT with a gsr at stock 8200, that was my concern

Don't worry about it. That is only a few hundred rpm above redline. Just don't make a habit of it. With a chipped p28 I have taken a GSR up to 9000 a few times and nothing ever happened. Oh that reminds me.
A long time ago I was helping a friend install a new head gasket on a old rabbit. My friend was reving it from the throttle body and the throttle cable stuck. At the time he didn't relaize the throttle cable stuck so he ran around the car to shut it off. He said he glanced that the tach as he tried to turn the key and that tach was wrapped way past redline. (10-13K) The rabbit is still running to this day. The moral to this is that if a old VW can handle it I am sure a b18c can handle it every once in a while.

I have accidently taken my stock internaled boosted 9psi usdm b18c1 to 9200 so I wouldent be too concerned with it just dont make a habbit of it....

LOL! Sorry but that's hilarious
For the original poster: If there was a problem you would know by now. Get the rev limiter lowered a bit so that this doesn't happen again!

Anyone care to offer any suggestions for pistons/rods/cams/camshafts?
I was gonna go with itr internals, but I want something that will handle up to 9000 rpms.
Also, how good will gas milage be if I build the internals......not heavily, just minor? It would still be pretty good right considering I were to drive it under 4000 for most of the time, since it has a fuel return line...?
