Default 76 Motor Oil (5W-40)

Hi, I used to be called r2ck_p but forgot my password so here I am again.

Anyway I have bought some oil over here in the UK which was very rare called 76 Motor Oil (5W-40), I was told it is extremely good on VTEC engines as I have a '98 CTR (EK9).

I looked at the bottle the other day and it has been imported from the US. Have anyone used it over there? Also will it be any good in my car?

Thanks

yes its unocal 76 motor oil. its not commonly found at auto parts stores but can still be found. is it synthetic or regular dino? this oil isnt any special oil. but since you guys got a great selection up there why not try bp visco 5000 5w-40 or castrol formula RS 0w-40?

The oil is Synthetic, it was decribed to me as excellent for VTEC engines, not sure how true this is? What type would be better for my car, would any 5W-40 be good or should I be using a 0w-40???

use the 5w-40 motor oil because they allow for use of 40wts. in your manual. ive never seen unocal 76 5w-40 synthetic in american but im not surprised b/c there is a better selection of motor oil in europe and the rest of the world that we dont get to enjoy here. i think it should be fine to use this motor oil. in europe when a synthetic is labeled as "full synthetic" that means that it is 100% synthetic. in american the definition of synthetic oils also includes the partially synthetic group III motor oils, which is refined to the point that it can be called a synthetic.
