Re: Motor Oil (Hookeduphatch)
I run Mobil 1 10W/30 motor oil.
Actually, Mobil guarantees ANY viscosity Mobil 1 oil will work ANYWHERE in North America - from Canada to Mexico - soooo take your pick.
Mobil 1 isn't the best oil, but it's good enough for 8000 HP Top Fuelers and 18000 RPM F1 cars, so it's plenty good for a 150 HP, 8000 RPM Honda Civic - believe me on this - and available in every auto store in America - even some drug stores and supermarkets.
You didn't ask, but I run Purolator PureOne oil filters. I get these at Pep Boys. MSRP is like $14 but PB sells them for $5.50 - deal of the century!
In my manual trannies, I run Red Line MTL/MT-90. Red Line oil is a PITA to find and its expensive - I buy it at a local speed shop. As an aside, my Honda Dealer sells Red Line MTL in their parts department, but they don't carry MT-90, which I prefer in summer months.
Anyway, that's my recommendation -- Mobil 1 motor oil, Purolator PureOne filter, and Red Line MTL or MT-90 manual tranny fluid!
If you're running a slushbox, you're on your own. I know nothing about auto tranny fluid...

+1. Mobil 1 lately isn't the best and is more mediocre than people think. They just talk it up because it was good 10 years ago.
RP tends to thin out a lot. I don't like RP's normal syn. Pennzoil platinum has gotten very good oil reviews.
Redline synthetic is awesome too. Amsoil is good, but it's not God like many people say too.

For motor oil I have been using Mobil 1 5w-30 BUT, I think I will be switching to the Castrol European Blend 0w-30. For transmission fluid, I stick with Honda MTF. I like that stuff, a lot. Works great with my LSD.
