Default 4th gear to 1st gear

so a week ago i was driving on our local route with a friend in his car beside me, im just driving in 4th gear with low rpms, so i wanted to launch up a little so i try downshifting to 3rd....me being a dumbass i shifted into first, my car literally jumped.....right when i felt it do that i pushed in the clutch and went to neutral, i think i went from 70-20 in like a second...haha, the car is still running fine, nothing wrong but what couldve happened?

Depends. What engine is in the car? What RPM range did the engine see after downshift?

bent valves is the most common, but you don't know how much damage you've done until you open her up. can you hear any weird noises comin from the motor you haven't heard before?

when doing a rebuild for around 250hp on my d16...should i replace the whole valvetrain package or just performace valves would be good? do i really need the titanium springs and retainers? with tuning i can make it so i still gain power in higher rpms than my redline right now right? i dont plan on revving to 10k tho

yeh it was a retarded move, of course i wasnt paying attention, i was looking at my friends car next to me when i did it and then all of a sudden it jumps back and slows down alot, so yeh i was not paying attention, but right when it happened i pushed in the clutch again and let it rev down

That has to be the hardest misshift to do ever, how hard did you throw it into first, mines pretty hard to get in if you're going over 10.

i made this thread to see what could go wrong with my engine not so see what people think of my retarded move. so is there a point in leaving posts like "what the hell"....ive already admitted it was stupid and well it went into first without grinding
