Default 4 wire O2 sensor??

I need to replace a primary o2 sensor off a 98 civic, can I use any 4 wire o2 sensor off any car in the 98 civic? Will it work? I know they should fit, but working with the ECU, that I don't know.

you can pretty much use any 4 wire honda o2; the only problem you might run into is wire lenght.

i would go off and try it..match the wires right with the stock connector.
Now, if your trying to buy used o2's im sure you can find them here on the h-t classifies.
And a new one is like 60-70 bills.

Well, I pulled a four wire O2 sensor off a Mazda and hooked it up the civic that was having the problem and it worked!! No check engine light and smooth idle. The colors were different, but were pretty simular because instead of having 2 blacks, a green and a white wire the mazda O2 sensor had 2 white, 1 black and 1 grey.

It was an easy hook up because I just looked at the back of each O2 and matched the pattern (I guess whites were the ground, black was the signal and the grey was the heater wire) so I just wired it up, soldered and heat wrapped it. Worked just fine after reseting the ECU.
