4 door GSR tranny??

4 door GSR tranny??
I just took apart a 2000 4 door GSR tranny and from the bearings on the dif it appears to be LS but I checked the VIN# on the case and it is off a 4 door GSR. Does the 4 door GSR come with an LS tranny or what??????????

There are also 4 door GSR's and I think what he is asking is what tranny does the 4 door GSR come with. And to answer the question. As far as I know they have the same tranny as a regular GSR. I am not 100% positive though. Let me know if anyone knows for sure.

gsr's comes with gsr trannies
ls's come with ls trannies
only diff between 4 door and 2door gsr's is that the 4 door has 2 extra doors and a trunk while the 2 door deosent

my GSR sedan (4DR) had a GSR tranny.
Also, it is possible that someone switched trannies if you bought your car used.

What type of bearing are on the Diff. taper or ball...
Most trannys are coming with Ball bearing instead of the Taper design now.
It is easier to set up since you dont have to set the preload...

LS and GSR diffs are the same...
if your tranny is a 2000, you are going to have the Ball bearings, not Taper bearing...
the only way to determine the tranny type is to count the teeth on each gear...

well that is my problem it has an LS dif and bearings but the VIN# on the case is for a 4 door GSR.
66 teeth on FD ring = 4.40 final drive/GSR tranny
64 teeth on FD ring = 4.266 final drive/LS tranny
