3rd Gear grinds at high rpms
Hey wassu p i got a 00itr.I bought the car with a stage3 clutchmaster kit. My 3rd gear grinds at high rpms. Whats wrong and what should i do? THANKS
I think this is more or less a common problem. Please correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not 100 percent on it, BUT I believe it's due to the double syncromeshes, at high RPM's they can't keep up with the speed.

i think what you mean to say is, the problem is commonly associated with the synchros wearing out. type r trannys do have dual synchros in 3rd gear, i guess thats why you said double synchomeshes.
edit for spelling error.

It is usually due to a worn out: GEAR, SLEEVE, and Synchro. It is rarely just a synchro that is worn out. You may also have a grooved Fork which will also allow some slop in the shift selection.
THE 3RD Gear uses a 1 Piece synchro set up. It does not use Dual Cone which is used in 2nd gear on GSR, B16 Hydro(YS-1 jap and GSR) ITR/CTR and H22 Vtec transmissions.

Yes...if worn...you will have grooves on the ends of the fork. Remember that everything works together. In order for it to work properly..everything must be in good working order. Inspect all the parts and replace all the bad parts to alleviate the problem

no but works for me, if i stay all motor the high rpm shifting will wear out the tranny faster, if i boost it i can baybe shift or short shift and still stay in boost. sorry i cant tell if your being serous or joking so i just gave a serious answer. if your joking my answer is YES
