Icon5 2G CRX fuel filter and pump help

1989 CRX SI Stock LS with b16 trans and bolt ons
Part 1 of 2:
I have a new in package Honda genuine fuel filter for a 1st gen crv.
My question is, can I use this filter in place of the 2gen crx one?
I assume the banjo bolts are the same.
Will the factory bends and length on my crx fuel lines work with the crv filter?
As you may know, the inlet and outlet for crx are both on top of the filter, yet the crv flows top to bottom.
I am not concerned as much about if it'll fit in the factory bracket. I just want it to hook up and work. I'll figure out how to mount it. I prefer not to open the package if someone knows it wont work without line modification.

Part 2 of 2: I have seen a few threads on this. As usual everyone is 50/50 on their opinions if this will work or not.
Walbro technical help guy was on vacation when I called to ask.

My fuel pump is starting to take a **** on me, finally, after running it dry 3 years ago. It wants me to prime it a few times before starting and still sometimes dies. Main relay is good and I am getting power all the way to the pump. When cycling key to on position, sometimes the pump wont even prime. When it does, it whines loud as its supposed to for the first half second then fades out then comes back to full loudness. Definitely not normal. Sounds unhealthy for sure.
I am very confident that it is not ignition related as I have replaced all components recently. No timing issues either.
I am tired of having the old pump running dry in the back of my mind, so I want to just get rid of it once and for all.
I want a Walbro 255. They are cheaper than all of the shitty Chinese/Mexican auto parts store pumps as well as the Walbro oem, and it flows better.
My engine has typical bolt ons, an oem fuel pressure regulator, and a factory tune.
Will the 255 push too much pressure for my oem fuel pressure regulator?

If memory serves me, the oem regulator is good for 41psi max.
Anyone actually run a 255 on a stock fpr and engine with no bad symptoms?
I really don't want to spend the money on an adjustable regulator.
This is just a quick daily driver companion to my s2000.

Thanks for the help.
