Default 2003 S2000 CEL

Hello! I have a 2k3 S2k and just recently illuminated a CEL. It happened as i was putting my foot into it a bit in 3rd, and my power just plummeted @ around 6500 RPM.

Pulled the code and got P1259 "VTEC System Fault." This seems like a very generic error, so i was wondering if anyone might know anything based on the events leading up to it. Oil level is normal, and there are no leaks. Reset the ECU, but i think i missed a step in the process as the CEL stayed lit.

Any and all constructive input is appreciated, and if you need any other information, feel free to post it up. Going to try to reset the ECU again to see if i can clear the CEL. Will update w/ results.

Go and borrow the ODB diagnostic tool from you local AutoZone and delete the fault code with that. Or if you know someone with a scanguage that will clear the code as well.

Drive for a while to see if it still comes back.

Not sure how the the newer ecu's work but some codes can trigger a limp mode causing perfomance to dropp.
