Default 2003 Accord Ex

Engine stalls with either turn signal on or if the brake pedal is pressed.. I think that I am either looking for a possible alternator or battery problem or perhaps the mult-function switch that controls the headlights/dimmer/turn signals may be bad. Can the multi function switch be replaced by removing the steering column covers ? Or, does the steering wheel and air bag have to be removed .

Head lights do not matter on or off , just turn signals or brakes

Replaced combo switch ( headlights / dimmer /turn signal ). Looked like the old one was dripping oily junk... charged battery at 15 amp to full . Turned charger on 2 amp and it alternated between low and 50 % all afternoon. Had battery tested and they made 2 attempts and said that battery would not test. Replaced battery. Completed this Tuesday afternoon and my daughter has not alerted me to any problems since then,. I held on to the original "combo switch"...If enough people complain about this problem, there would be recall as it is a safety hazard for the engine to die when using brake lights or turn signals. It had a p 0685 fault code...Ecm/Pcm malfunction code., apparently set by the combo switch..... Just because you get a code like that does not mean that the ecm /pcm needs replacement... It could mean as in this case, that there is something else that effects/affects the ecm/pcm that sets the code. Local dealer quoted the switch @ about $38.00 but would have to be special ordered and payed for in advance. I pre-ordered the switch for $47.00 and took it with me from Jasper, AL to Lexington,Ky. Daughter bought the battery locally , probably $100 to $ 115.00 .... and then there is a matter of a 825 mile round trip road call....and about 24 hours from start to back home . Honda America says that they have never heard of this problem. I am not happy !
