2002 Civic stalls at 1000rpms

I just had my timing belt replace on my 2002 Civic. It stalls at 1000 rpms. What could be the problem?

You sure the person did the timing correctly?

Not really. Had students in our auto-shop work on it. Teacher is supposed to check all work, but not sure he did.
