Default 17da1 broken timing belt

Need some help...
Broken timing belt on a 2002 Civic LX...17da1..
During reassembly, is it possible to have the cam 180 degrees out, or do the sensors compensate for that. Everything will be placed on TDC, but can the cam be out, or am I way off in my thoughts, here....
Or is the cam gear 2X size of the crank gear?

Your out of your thoughts. Cam gear has to be perfectly aligned or will run like crap or worse will make your valves meet a piston, and they don't like each other.

Remember its only piston number 1 that has to be At tdc.
