internal weights would defenently be a good place to work on....use ligther rods/pistons/retainers/valves/hollowed camshafts/flywheel. Weight spinning at that speed is gonna have hella momentum and inertia.

If you want 10 grand, I'd say a good place to start would be a B16 or a B20 with a B17 crank. Why? For better rod ratios. With the stock 1.58 rod ratio of the LS block, you're going to have some crazy high piston speeds and side loading. There's even the possibility of the piston outrunning the flame front.

But the question is, why do you want to rev to 10K? Just to say you do? If that's the case, it may be easier to drop a Hyabusa motor in there. Or to make HP? If you want HP, it'll be cheaper to boost than to build a 10K RPM motor.

*edit- and as for reliability... what's your definition of reliability? Five times down the track or five years of street/ strip action before rebuild?

pistons at least 12:1, rods w/ arp rod bolts, crank gridle, al flywheel and bottom end balanced....for the head, springs, retainers, jun 3's, skunk 2 stage 3's, p+p head and @ that rpm i would reconmend itb's to fully take advantage of the amont of air you could flow. and btw 10k rpm is not going to be a street only motor, and race motors don't last for 5 years. as far as piston speeds and sideloading, all motor guys out there have as low as 1.30 r/s ratios spinning to 10k, ls/crv isn't that bad @ all, and with a stock bore and crank, sideloading should be that much of an issue considering the minimal amount of time your @ 8k rpm +.. all in all unless you have like $8k to fully build your motor you can't rev to 10k safely

a better question is what cam do you want to buy that will make more power by revving that high.

lightest components available (lots of Ti, lightened valves, basically the lightest rotating mass poss..) and balance/blueprint...but i must ask; Why 10k? its "cool" but....you can make plenty of reliable power @ <9500. Crower 3 is the cam to have.
