Default 1/2" ARP Headstud?

long story short one of my headstud threads in my GSR block is stripped out. it was previously helicoiled and that came out so i think the only way to fix it is with the Time-sert Bigsert kit #7111BS.

but i also heard about people using 1/2" ARP headstuds in their blocks. could i just use that and tap out the hole to fit the 1/2" headstud instead of buying the Time-sert kit which is like $500?

any help is appreciated.

I would use the timesert kit myself...I just bought one, easiest repair I've ever done, expensive, but sometimes it is cheaper than replacing the block
