"Chirping" Problem
I have a 93 Del Sol Si with a D16Z6 and im having an issue with a bad noise. around 1200rpm theres a loose chirping kind of sound, its only between 1000-1400rpm, usually on the downfall, Ive checked for any loose pullies or anything like that, belts are good, anyone know what else this could be?
Nah my exhaust is stock, its definately in the motor. Its pretty loud too, I guess I should clarify too, my car is completely stock excluding the suspension
i used to have that problem with my other civic
it was my a/c belt slipping
the belt was worn and it made a chirping sound that made my car sound like it had a blow off valve

Well the car doesnt have AC, and its a no go on the v-lines, i dunno im clueless, any chance it could be a bearing problem in the motor somewhere?

But check all the accessories. Alternator bearing? PS pump? Stuff like that.
Try to narrow down the location of the sound. That'll really help. If it's your throw-out bearing the location will be obvious.

Ill check it out, it does definately sound like its coming from the acessory side of the motor, however the power steering pump and water pump are both new, I suppose it could be the alternator, ill check it out, any chance it could have something to do with the drivetrain components, such as clutch or flywheel? I know both of those are original

The throw-out bearing is in at the clutch, so you'd be able to tell that the noise isn't coming from the accessory end.
The only other thing might be drive axle or brakes, but that stuff doesn't even turn unless the car is moving. Ummm - yeah. Does it make the noise when the car is not actually moving??
The location of noises can be VERY misleading when you're sitting in the driver's seat.

Nah the noise is at slight rev with no movement, it isnt a constant noise, only between that RPM range, and worst at approx 1150 RPM, if it goes above or below those RPMs there is no noise, including at idle there is no noise, only when it passes that RPM area )1000-1200rpm. Theres no movement or clutch use
have someone rev the car while someone is under the hood listening. it could be the alternator belt, or even the powersteering belt. then it could be the timming belt tensioner.i have seen those lock up. it could be in the beginning of going bad. but like what was said you need to pin point the sound more closely
i would do what the other guys said check your tension on the accessory belts they might be loose. or try taking sum silicon spray or wd40 and spraying the belt a lil see if the noise stops if it does stop then there is your problem
goodluck

ok I drenched the crank and alternator pulley with silicone lube and the noise stopped.....well for about 30 miles anyways, now its doing it again. So bascially the lube helped but it didnt cure it. Any ideas based off this info of what and which it would be?
No, the idea is ONLY put it on ONE BELT AT A TIME. It's not supposed to fix it; it's supposed to tell you which belt is making the noise.
Well, actually, you've shown that it IS one of the belts...
